Contents Summary
|
This course is for learners of English as a Foreign Language. It uses integrated skills approach. It has two powerful strands which deal with Listening/ Speaking and Reading/ Writing. All the units in both books are thematically linked which allows sufficient practice in vocabulary and grammatical structures. New structures are presented in a range of life like contexts. The contents are close to authentic materials and are diverse in nature.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, the learners will be able to:
A. Knowledge:
have grasped form, meaning and pronunciation of the Target Language (TL).

Assessment methods for the above elements:
There will be two midterm quizzes, one end term examination, two writing quizzes , two oral presentations and one assessment of students' portfolios.

Science students will be taught supplementary material. The material is to be used as a link between general English and technical material. Grammatical, lexical and scientific writing elements will be carefully interwoven to take students smoothly through the transition from elementary school level to the advanced academic pursuits.
