Contents Summary:
The subject aims at providing the student with the necessary skills in using IT components including both hardware and software. The syllabus starts by explaining the basic concepts and principles of hardware and software .Then, it moves to the practical side that is necessary to achieve the targeted benefits from computer use namely Operating systems and Office applications(Word, Excel, Databases, and PowerPoint ) .Finally, the syllabus includes two parts for the internet , E-learning and Distance learning.

Objectives:
1- Providing students with a clear idea about IT basics and its uses in daily life.
2- Enabling students to know the most important components of computers (hardware and software).
3- Training students intensively in the most important Office applications.
4- Providing students with a clear idea about communication and the Internet with all their practical uses namely e-mail.
5- Giving students a good knowledge and understanding of E-learning and distance learning to benefit from their advantages in their daily and university lives.
Contents:
1- Information Technology basic concepts: historical survey, Computer components, types of software, daily uses, security.
2- Introduction to Windows: Settings, Frames, Display and searching ways.
3- Word basic skills: starting and ending Word, Toolbars, data entering, editing,copying , pasting, searching and formatting, adding borders , saving as template,Dictionary and printing, inserting tables and pictures and their format, Including correspondence, Practical applications.
4- Excel basic skills: starting and ending, table creation and its settings, data entering, using simple formula, selection, copying , pasting and editing, searching, data Sorting and filtering, Formula, Auto fill, cell format , printing, importing objects, functions, graphics.
5- Access basic skills: Concepts and definitions, starting Access, database creation and settings, table creation and data entry, queries and reports creation, Practical applications.
6- PowerPoint basic skills: basic operations, creating a presentation, designing, adding text or picture, slides reordering, slides format, layouts and object importing, Presentation preparation and printing.
7- The Internet and e-mail: definitions and concepts of Internet use, search machines, searching, favorites, creating a new e-mail, e-mail management program, exchanging mail, Mail lists and mail searching.
8- Basics of e-learning and distance learning: definitions and concepts, components , resources and systems, the importance of standardization and quality in e- learning, Arabic and non Arabic e-learning web sites.

3- Knowing operating systems features and network types.
4- Knowing about the Internet and Office applications.
5- Understanding e-learning and distance learning.

2- Ability to deal with operating systems and Office applications.
3- Acquiring Internet and e-mail skills.
4- Dealing with e-learning and distance learning suitably.
C-Interpersonal skills and responsibilities:
1- Self-confidence growth through dealing with computers different programs and concepts.
2- Being trained in accomplishing a mission according to a certain clear-cut system .
3- Acquiring the ability to invent through the achieved tasks.
4- Encouraging invention and competition among students.
D- Analysis and communication:
1- Acquiring logic basics.
2- Dealing with functions.
3- Acquiring the ability of deduction and methodological research.
4-Acquiring basics of future logical preparations.
5-Ability to deal with all types of modern communications.

3- Student's performance and interaction in class.
